UW-Whitewater: Biennial Budget Campaign Planning

  • University of Wisconsin at Whitewater 800 W Main St Whitewater, WI, 53190 United States

In January, the Wisconsin State Governor will present his or her budget for the State. United Council of UW Students takes particular interest in the budget because it impacts many of our platforms including: access to higher education in WI, quality of higher education in WI, ending the school to prison pipeline, etc. It is the  biennial budget that dictates how much money the state will give to the UW System Schools. In recent years, the cuts in budget to the UW System has shifted the focus of the UW System to find money by hiking tuition or research/private money, all of which have negative effects on UW student's access and quality of education.

This SWAG will be focused on what we as UW Students would like to see in the budget to make sure that we and our interests are included. For example, from past SWAGs and interactions with students, we have added specific asks like more financial support for international students to realize a higher quality of education that is specific to their needs and desires.

If you need housing, United Council has reserved a block of hotel rooms for $70 a night at Hampton Inn, 40 West Hidden Trail, Elkhorn, WI 53121. Just call 262.743.2360 and ask to reserve a room under the United Council block in your name.

Like always, although the biennial budget is the focus of this SWAG, like always we invite all ideas and projects that students have to work on as a group.

Here is the agenda
